Why Maranto is the replacement to call

A century-old name, fresh bread, and a delivery you can count on.

Fresh every morning, never frozen

A par-baked roll off a broadline truck goes soft within hours. We bake fresh daily and deliver the same morning — the crackle and crust your customers expect, not a defrosted stand-in.

Family-owned since 1914

Baltimore’s oldest Italian bakery, four generations in. We’ve outlasted every name in the business. Your next supplier should be one that’s still here in 50 years.

Only 90 minutes up the road

We already run morning routes through Carroll and Harford County, right next to the York/Susquehanna line — and we’re extending toward Harrisburg. Samples on your counter and bread on your dock, fast.

Fresh daily vs. frozen off the truck

The fastest fix is a frozen par-baked roll from your broadline rep. Here's why it won't last.

A Maranto baker pulling fresh Italian loaves from the hearth oven with a wooden peel

Maranto — fresh, every morning

  • Baked overnight, delivered the same day
  • Real crust and crackle that holds up
  • No thawing, no bake-off labor for your staff
  • The authentic Italian roll your regulars expect

Frozen par-baked rolls

  • Goes soft and chewy within hours of thawing
  • Staff has to thaw and bake off on a schedule
  • “First-day freshness” is a claim, not fresh-baked
  • Your customers notice the difference

“Frozen gets you through the week. It won’t keep your customers.”

Questions from stranded accounts

You’re in Baltimore — can you really deliver fresh to the Harrisburg area?

Yes — and for a lot of you we’re closer than you’d think. We already run morning routes through Carroll and Harford County, right up against the York/Susquehanna line, and York-area shops are a short hop from where our trucks already go. For Harrisburg and the Cumberland Valley we’re ~90 minutes up I-83 — the same drive-time as the Philadelphia bakeries many shops already buy from, and closer than the New Jersey suppliers. We bake overnight and deliver fresh in the morning, and we’re signing accounts now to schedule reliable runs across the area.

My supplier just closed and I need rolls this week. How fast can you start?

Call us directly at (410) 625-1591 and we’ll move immediately. We can get samples to you within days and set up your account fast. Tell us your standing order and we’ll match it.

Why not just use frozen par-baked rolls from my food distributor?

Frozen gets you through the week — it won’t keep your customers. Par-baked and thawed rolls go soft, chewy, and lose their crust within hours, and someone on your staff has to thaw and bake them off on a schedule. If the roll is your product, your regulars will taste the downgrade. We’re the fresh, every-morning replacement — delivered, not defrosted.

What’s the minimum order?

We work with businesses of all sizes. Tell us your volume and we’ll find a schedule that works — we’re building this route around real accounts like yours.

Do your rolls match what I was getting before?

Almost certainly. We make the full range of Italian sub rolls, kaisers, flat buns, brioche, and hearth-baked artisan loaves. Send us your old order or product list and we’ll match it spec for spec.
